Poker Game Rules

At the Casino College you'll learn the most common variations of Poker played today. Below we have outlined the game rules for the three most popular poker games played in casinos around the world today.

  • Texas Hold'em Poker - is the most popular game today. In Texas Hold'em, each player receives two down cards as their initial hand, and there is a round of betting. Three board cards called "the flot" are then turned simultaneously by the dealer, and as fourth street and fifth street or the "turn" and the "river", are turned one at a time with a round of betting after each one. The board cards are community cards and each player uses any five of the seven available cards, both hole cards and three from the board, one in their hand and four on the board, or the five board cards to make the best possible hand.
  • Omaha Poker - is a variation on Texas Hold'em is often played high low split with eight or better required for low. Each player initially receives four hole cards. At show down, exactly two of a player's hole cards and three of the community cards must be used to make up a five card hand. Each player makes up a five-card high hand using any two hole cards along with any three community cards, and he also makes up five-card low hand using any two hands may be made up using the same or any other combination of two hole cards and three board cards.
  • Seven Card Stud Poker - The deal always starts in seat one. Each player receives a total of seven cards, beginning with two down and one up. After the first betting round, each player receives another up card, and there is another round of betting. This repeats until each player has four up cards. The seventh card is dealt face down, and there is a final round of betting, making five rounds betting in all. After all the action is complete there is a show down to determine the winner.
